TINY First Look: The Worker Ant Beneath the Backyard

Somewhere beneath the backyard in TINY, there is a warm underground chamber lit by the glow of the Honeyed Geode. Today we're sharing our first look at a creature we've been building for that world: a red worker ant.

A first look at TINY's red worker ant beside the Honeyed Geode, captured in Roblox Studio. In-engine animation preview; TINY is in development. Sound mixed for this preview.

TINY is the first game from Pocket Colossus Studios: a backyard survival adventure we're making for Roblox, and it's still in development. What you're seeing is an in-engine animation preview captured in Roblox Studio. It shows the worker's idle animation, the way it carries itself while it's at rest.

Up close, a worker ant is not a small thing. Its body and head shift with gentle, unhurried motion while its antennae drift and sway in the warm light. Nearby, rounded mushrooms with muted blue caps give off a faint glow of their own, a cool counterpoint to the geode's warmth. Then the mandibles close, twice, in quick succession.

Listen closely, because the sound matters as much as the motion. Each clack is a recorded sound lined up with the moment the mandibles actually meet, so what you hear and what you see land together. Beneath it runs a rough, grinding growl, the worker's idle voice. The antennae, meanwhile, move in complete silence.

This is one creature in one corner of TINY, and plenty more of the game is still taking shape. The sound was mixed specifically for this preview. You can follow along on our website through the TINY overview, the TINY Workbench and our studio journal.

For now, turn the sound on and tell us: if you found yourself beside this worker in the glow of the Honeyed Geode, would you step closer… or back away?
